Israel: Online Reporting and Digital Address Requirements
As of June 27, 2024, registered entities in Israel must submit all reports and notices to the Companies Registrar using an online portal. Manual reporting will no longer be accepted following this date.
Additionally, the Israeli law now obliges each company to register a digital address in the Companies Registrar database. This is done in order to allow companies to receive digital mail and communications from governmental and public bodies in Israel.
Key changes and requirements
Companies are urged to appoint an “authorized reporter” representative for electronic filing purposes which allows swift and efficient filings to the Companies Registrar. Local counsel are often in possession of a token designated for submitting electronic reports and can be appointed as the authorized reporter.
The digital address consists of two valid emails or an email and a local (Israeli) phone number. This change requires each company to update the Companies Registrar of the digital address details. This update should be done at the latest, as part of the 2024 annual compliance process. This update can only be done online, for example by the authorized reporter.
